Romney's Connection
to the Council on Foreign Relations
(CFR)

"Rising to a New Generation of Global Challenges" by Mitt Romney was the feature article in the July/August edition of the CFR "Foreign Affairs" Magazine. The very act of aligning himself with such a controversial organization implies his support for their agenda to undermine US sovereignty in the creation of a North American Union.

As if to dispel all doubt, Romney's article clearly shows his devotion to their globalist agenda.

Throughout the article he speaks of the "role in the world" of the United States and the President. He refers to "Our ability to influence the world", our responsibility "to promote peace, security, and freedom around the world". He even goes so far as to say we should use " our resources* [to provide to countries throughout the world] education, health, banking, energy, commerce, [and] law enforcement" in order to "strengthen the democratic underpinnings" of such countries!

(*Money borrowed from China)

He suggests: "Just as the military has divided the world into regional theaters for all of its branches, the work of our civilian agencies should be organized along common geographic boundaries. ... [the leaders of these regions] should be evaluated according to their success in promoting America's political, military, diplomatic, and economic interests in their respective regions and building the foundations of freedom, democracy, security, and peace."

So, we are to be not only a world leader but also a world provider!

Recognizing the President doesn't have the authority to do such, he urges "Congress must give the president the authority to move forward with these efforts". However, he forgets that Congress doesn't have this power either!

With an estimated cost for such a program being many Trillions of dollars,
critics claim this is a recipe for a rapid crash of the US Economy!

Contrary to Romney's view, former Secretary of Agriculture (and Romney's LDS Church Leader) Ezra Taft Benson wisely declared:

“There is one and only one legitimate goal of United States foreign policy. It is a narrow goal, a nationalistic goal: the preservation of our national independence. Nothing in the Constitution grants that the president shall have the privilege of offering himself as a world leader. He is our executive; he is on our payroll; he is supposed to put our best interests in front of those of other nations. Nothing in the Constitution nor in logic grants to the president of the United States or Congress the power to influence the political life of other countries, to ‘uplift’ their cultures, to bolster their economies, to feed their people, or even defend them against their enemies.

Romney praises such entangling alliances as NATO for having "magnified the power of freedom". He points to the shortcomings of the UN, and rather than suggesting we should reclaim our sovereignty from such world governance, he suggests expanding UN power with "global networks of intelligence and law enforcement". This would pose an even greater threat to our Liberty as preserved under the Constitution, by subjecting all nations, including ourselves, to international law enforcement. This would certainly aid the U.N. in their long-standing goal of disarming the citizens of all member nations.

Thomas Jefferson said: “I deem one of the essential principles of our government to be peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations, entangling alliances with none…”

"Free trade agreements like NAFTA has: cost the United States over 3 million manufacturing jobs, increased U.S. Farm failures, and cost over 1 million Mexican’s to lose their farms. NAFTA has also cost Utahans over 8,000 jobs according to the Economic Policy Institute. NAFTA and CAFTA are systematically destroying the American Middle Class. They are not ‘free trade’ agreements at all but internationally managed trade pacts which benefit corporate interests at the expense of the middle class. They are managed by un-elected and un-accountable bureaucrats who do not have Americans’ best interests at heart." Mark Hudson, stats from the Economic Policy Institute

Our Founding Fathers warned against the very thing that Mitt Romney is praising:

George Washington: "Europe has a set of primary interests, which have to us none, or very remote relation. Hence, she must be engaged in frequent controversies, the causes of which are essentially foreign to our concerns. Hence, therefore, it must be unwise in us to implicate ourselves, by artificial ties, in the ordinary vicissitudes of her politics, or the ordinary combinations and collusions of her friendships or enmities."

John Quincy Adams: "America has abstained from interference in the concerns of others, even when the conflict has been for principles to which she clings....She goes not abroad in search of monsters to destroy. She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all. She is the champion and vindicator only of her own."

James Monroe, the Monroe Doctrine:  "In the wars of European powers in matters relating to themselves we have never taken any part, nor does it comport with our policy so to do....Our policy in regard to Europe...is, not to interfere in the internal concerns of any of its powers ..."

Romney justifies this meddling in foreign affairs by frequently citing the threat of terrorism. This comes right out of the playbook of past tyrannies:

Nazi Dictator Adolph Hitler: “Terrorism is the best political weapon for nothing drives people harder than a fear of sudden death.”

Soviet Dictator Joseph Stalin: “The easiest way to gain control of a population is to carry out acts of terror. [The public] will clamor for such laws if their personal security is threatened”.

Plato – a Greek philosopher often quoted by our Founders said: “This and no other is the root from which a tyrant springs; when he first appears he is a protector.”

U.S. President and the Father of the Constitution – James Madison: “If tyranny and oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.”

Either Romney is sincerely deceived, or he is sincerely hostile to the foundations of our Liberty. Whatever the case, he has clearly shown he is on board with the Globalist plans of the Council on Foreign Relations.
